Daniel Nicholson-Gardner, Minds Inspired Scholar
2013 Minds Inspired Scholar
Cayman International School (CIS)
Daniel maintains an impressive grade average and completes the full International Bachelorette (IB) diploma this year – with Maths and English topping his list of favorite subjects. In addition to academics, Daniel is very involved in the school community and participates in a wide range of extracurricular activities. He is the VP of CIS’s Student Leadership group, a participant in Impact 345 at Health City, and the Assistant Coach of the high school girls’ volleyball team. Daniel sits on his school’s United Nations committee for a second year – a testament to his interest in global affairs – and will participate, once again, in the Model United Nations trip to Chicago this December.
Passionate about interschool competitions, Daniel took part in a number of events during the last school year: he was captain of CIS’s KPMG Brain-bowl team, competed in the Minds Inspired Maths Challenge, and was a member of the school’s Conyers Debate team.
The 2016 Minds Inspired summer enrichment programme took place at Stanford University – and saw Daniel enhance his knowledge of computerised engineering through his attendance at a weeklong course on engineering and programming with the Arduino Platform. The Arduino Platform, designed to be easy to use for developers, is a platform for small electronics projects.
