The mentoring component of the scholarship is central to its success. Mentors are Dart employees who are matched with scholars to provide professional and academic advice in their fields of interest.
Mentors give support and direction as the scholars progress through high-school and make decisions about career choice, college or university selection, and course application. Mentoring sessions also cover the necessary skills for successful independent living; advice is given on budgeting, time management, study and communication skills, as well as financial planning guidance in relation to college funding. The mentoring programme also gives scholars work experience opportunities within the Dart group of companies.
