The COVID-19 pandemic is a global crisis on an unprecedented scale. At Dart, our collective priority is protecting the health and safety of our people and our community, while continuing daily business operations as best as we can. 

As the virus continues to have a local impact, Dart is closely monitoring advice and guidelines from the Cayman Islands Government and international health authorities and guiding all its programmes, including Minds Inspired, on how to continue.

The following events and activities have been affected by COVID-19. As Minds Inspired programmes run though out the year, please check back to this page for updates or follow Minds Inspired on Instagram and Facebook to receive updates as they are posted:

  • FIRST Tech Challenge Minds Inspired hosted the FIRST Technical Challenge “SKYSTONE” in February 2020. The tournament also serves as a pre-qualifier for selection to the Cayman Islands National Robotics Team, which represents the country at the FIRST Global Challenge. FIRST Global announced the 2020 global competition is cancelled, therefore a 2020 national team will not be selected. Minds Inspired remains committed to robotics programmes, which will relaunch in the fall for the 2021 season.   • SeaPerch The SeaPerch underwater robotics competition, initially set to take place in March 2020 was cancelled. SeaPerch will resume in 2021, contact your science teacher to participate.
  • Interschool Chess Tournament This tournament was cancelled in 2020 and will resume in 2021.
  • STEM Teacher Award Nominations for the 2020 STEM Teacher Awards closed in February 2020. The announcement of finalists has been postponed to the fall. Finalists and nominators have been contacted by email.
  • STEM Graduation Awards. Top STEM graduates will still receive an award, the Minds Inspired team will work with each school to determine how the awards will be presented.
