CIS tops interschool robotics competition field
Cayman International School topped a field of seven local high schools in the 2023 FIRST Tech Challenge, a robotics competition with a renewable energy theme celebrating achievements of young people in robotics.
CIS wins Power Play at 2023 FIRST Tech Challenge
The energy was electric at the annual Minds Inspired robotics interschool competition as seven high schools put their robots through their paces in the FIRST Tech arena. After multiple rounds navigating obstacles, shifting alliances and overcoming technical challenges, an exciting final match saw two teams from Cayman International School (CIS) in an alliance against two teams from John Gray High school (JGHS). It was a nail-biting finish with the first game going to CIS, the second to JGHS, and CIS emerging victorious in the final round.

Cayman competes at the FIRST Global Challenge

After two months designing, building and programming our robot, seven students and two coaches from the Cayman Islands National Robotics team jetted off to Geneva, Switzerland with Mangrover the robot safely encased in a custom-made box. No trip would be complete without the traditional team photo at the airport!

Grand Cayman, 29 June 2022: Nine Cayman Islands’ high school students will head to Geneva, Switzerland in October to compete against robotics teams from 180 countries in the FIRST Global Challenge.
Announced this week, the 2022 National Robotics team includes students from five high schools in the Cayman Islands: Maxwell Clarke, Alexander Walters and Kyah Morris (Cayman International School), Adi Binoy (Cayman Prep & High School), Marissa Wright and Teejhan Hansraj (John Gray High School), Diamond White and Michael Marzouca (St Ignatius Catholic School) and Drew Plania (Triple C).

‘Grogu’ and ‘Herbert’ win inter-school robotics competition at the FIRST Tech Challenge 2022
Ten robots battled it out at the FIRST Tech Challenge on Saturday 26 March, competing for accuracy and speed as they maneuvered around the arena. Eighty students from five high schools in Grand Cayman designed, built, programmed and operated robots to compete in the inter-school tournament and for the chance to be selected in the Cayman Islands International robotics team.
Brac teams sweep the board at SeaPerch underwater robotics competition

Scott High School took first and second places in both middle- and high-school divisions of this year’s Minds Inspired SeaPerch Challenge held at Camana Bay Sports Complex pool on Saturday 12 March. Work-X carries on
Each summer, students join the Minds Inspired Work-X programme and gain on-the-job, career-shaping experience, working side by side with Dart's professionals. This year, between the beginning of June and the end of August, 15 students participated in the Work-X programme despite the issues caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
